About the Patrick Henry Chapter

The Patrick Henry Chapter of the Texas Society of the Sons of the American Revolution was chartered in 1938. We are a part of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. We have members whose ages stretch from the 20’s to their “prime”. We would like to help you become a member. The Patrick Henry Chapter counts President George H. W. Bush and his son President George W. Bush and five former Texas Governors as past members, but most of the members come from much more humble backgrounds. Most of our ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary War were hard working farmers who were good with a plow and a rifle.

In accordance with our charter, we are involved with activities that foster Patriotism, and correctness in American history, belief in liberty, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, The Bill of Rights, an independent Supreme Court and “One Nation Under God”. We want to unite and promote fellowship among the descendants of the Patriots of the Revolution and to inspire the community at large to have reverence for the principles of the government founded by our forefathers. We encourage historical research in relation to the American Revolution. Every effort is made to acquire and preserve the records of service of the patriots of the war, as well as documents, relics and landmarks. We celebrate the anniversary of the prominent events of the war and of the Revolutionary period. We hope to foster patriotism and maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom and carry out the purposes expressed in the Preamble of the Constitution and the injunctions of General George Washington’s Farewell Address.
