David Armer

I was born in a farmhouse in central Missouri. The main crop was straw-berries. When I was sixteen, my  parents moved the family to Mesa, Arizona just east of Phoenix. I graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Education in 1972. After completion of basic training in the Air National Guard, I accepted a full-time position in the base training office. Other positions held were Personnel Data System Manager and Base Personnel Manager.  I retired in 2008 as Chief Master Sergeant.

My patriot ancestor is Zedekiah Wood Sr.  He served as a private in the Georgia militia, Richmond County,  and participated in several battles .  Some battles were close enough to the family’s cabin that his wife could hear the sounds of the canon. Tories shot the family milk cow, dressed the meat and took it away leaving the family   only water for bread making.

I married my wife Susan in 1999. Between us, we have four children and nine grandchildren. We followed the youngest grandchildren to Texas in 2018.

I am member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants and serve as the captain for the Central Texas Colony. I  participate in a local VFW post 4443..   I am an active volunteer and board member of Freedom On the Fly. This is a non-profit organization  that teaches flyfishing to veterans including casting, fly tying and rod building. We  also host flyfishing trips where the primary focus is on disabled veterans.

I  also enjoy traveling with his wife in the US and internationally.  We also enjoy  spending time with our grandchildren.
