Welcome Letter from Senator Campbell
Welcome Letter from Senator Campbell
Dear Fellow Texan,
Welcome to the annual Texas Society Sons of the American Revolution 124th Annual Conference in Austin! We are glad you are here to celebrate Patriotism and a belief in liberty and our founding documents.
As the State Senator for Senate District 25, I was honored to file Senate Bill 1776, The Founding Principles Act. As Ronald Reagan famously remarked, freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. The accomplishments of our country’s Founding Fathers is so valuable to the success of our state and as a county. The Founding Principles Act requires high school students to successfully complete a semester course on the founding principles of the United States. Topics of study would include the underlying principles of the U.S. form of government, with an emphasis on the U.S. Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Federalist Papers, and other writings of America’s founders. Senate Bill 1776 would ensure that future generations of Texans have full knowledge and understanding of the ideals that have allowed America to be exceptional and for liberty to flourish.
America is the greatest nation on earth because of the extraordinary principles our nation was founded on. Keeping America free and strong requires a commitment to teaching these principles. It is important for our children to have a fundamental understanding of the founding principles of our nation’s government, including knowledge of the separation of powers and how laws are made, for they are essential to the ability of citizens to fully participate in our democracy
I pray for your continued success and the prosperity and well-being of your families. God bless Texas and welcome to Austin!
Sincerely,
Senator Donna Campbell, M.D.
Chair, Veteran Affairs & Border Security
